Mel looked up at the big building that Michael had pointed her to. Viridian City was huge! She didn't want to look silly, but she couldn't help staring. She had passed at least ten people on the way to the center, and gone through two streets lined with houses. Two, already!
She gripped Lapis's pokeball nervously, as the squirtle looked at her. "C'Mon, time to go inside," she muttered, returning the water pokemon before he could protest. Searching for courage Mel walked thrugh the sliding glass doors, wishing that her parents were there.

Micheal didn't seem to notice her proccupation with the 'big building' and 'huge city'. Considering he lived here, it didn't seem all that grand. An anyways, he'd been to /Saffron/. This place was tiny compared to that!
Of course, once having been there, when he did notice Mel's fascination, he nearly broke down in fits of laughter. But that was tiring, and Micheal had had enough to tiring things. Besides he had a Spearow.
A Spearow! His amazement had finally set in. The fearsome bird of Route one...And it was his! He could actually travel through the route without being put off by Rattata!
Although a flock of Spearow was a different story.
"Well, here we are." The inside of the pokemon center was a mixture of white and red.
Most things having to do with pokemon seemed to be. He wondered if there was something going on in respect to a consipiracy between them and pokeballs.

((Da Conspiracy!))
Mel was looking around. There was a row of computers in one corner, and she could see an old lady with her pokemon sitting in a booth, and drinking tea. This place would [probably be filled up from trainers from all over.
"Wow," Mels said in a tiny voice. "Pallet Town doesn't have anything like this." She looked around blankly, her eyes skipping over the counter. "What do I do?"

Micheal shrugged, "'Course Pallet doesn't. It does have the lab though..." He thought on that for a moment, perhaps comparing Pallet and Viridian, but stopped as soon as Mel's incredible (In his mind) ignorance was revealed wit hher question.
"You...Uh...Here."
Walking up to the counter, he waited for Nurse Joy to appear, upon which the following conversation followed.
"Could you heal my pokemon please?" Micheal, offering the pokeball.
"I would have thought someone your age would have had more sense! What if I were a robber disguised as Nurse Joy? Were you going to just hand the pokeball over then? Always make sure first!" Said by Nurse Joy as she accepted the pokeball, healed the pokemon, and returned it to a shaken Micheal.
"Uh...Thanks...I'll remember..." Leaving before Nurse Joy could wish him back again, he put on a (fake) bright smile. "Thats all there is to it!"

"Ehh," Mel said, her expression frozen after having heard what the nurse had to say.
She stepped up to the counter nervously. "I'd like to have my pokemon healed too please, er, after I see some identification, of course." The young girl looked between Michael and the Nurse Joy questioningly. "That's right, isn't it?"

Micheal would have shrugged his shoulders, but he had disapeared. Apparantly Nurse Joy frightened him. Or maybe he just was in a hurry. Whatever the case, the large man was nowhere in sight.
Nurse Joy smiled however, "Quite right dear. And here it is-" She flashed a name card thing hanging on a necklace, and waited for the pokeball.
((Christopher will appear in short order...Maybe next post.))

Mel breathed out, amazed that she had surpassed this obstical course without the help of adults. She placed Lapis's pokeball on the table, and then unclipped Agok's ball from her belt. "Here you are ma'am. These are my squirtle, and my pidgey. We got attacked by a bunch of spearow, and they're both really beat up. I couldn't exactly get them away, as birds fly faster than we can run, so, yeah, sorry, I know I shouldn't have let them out against such a big flock," Mel said, trying to avert a possible impending lecture.

Nurse Joy shook her head, "Well, I suppose you didn't have much choice...But what in the world did you do to get them so riled up in the first place?" Taking the pokeball she placed them on the machine, watching the little lights dance across the board, and when all of them were green, she removed the pokeballs and handed them back. "You be careful now."
--The Grand Entrance Of Christopher--
Four minimized pokeballs were in one of his hands, while a slow moving Bulbasaur walked along beside him, occasionally stopping to stare at one of the passing people. Why wasn't quite sure, but he disapeared into a flash of light as the teenager recalled him, walking up to the counter.
Maybe it was his age, but he was taller than Mel. In fact, he didn't even notice her, although he wasn't /that/ much taller than her. He looked strained though. Anyone would be, after putting up with his newly aquired team.
"Mm...Nurse Joy?"
Nurse Joy looked at him, nodding. "That's me. Want your pokemon healed?"
Christopher nodded, handing the pokeballs over.
The same lecture followed him as the one that Micheal had recieved, although Christopher didn't seem so shaken up. Maybe he tuned it out. Whatever the case, he had soon recieved his pokemon back.

Mel looked s;lightly annoyed that she had been brushed aside. The new kid had even recieved his pokemon before she had, even though she had been here first. The fact that hers were probably more worn out and wounded didn't enter the annoyed equation. She cleared her throat meaningfully, moveing closer to the center of the counter, and standing on tip toe to make herself slightly taller. "Ahem, excuse me, but is there anywhere that I can get some food for my pokemon?"

Nurse Joy seemed to blush, since she had apparantly forgotten Mel, handing over the two (now healed) pokemon. "There you go, dear. Ah, yes. The pokemart is probably the best place to look. You might want to check for some good sales on antidotes as well. Viridian forest is teeming with Weedle and Beedrill this time of year."
Christopher looked down at her, dropping three of the pokeballs back into a pocket but holding his Bulbasaur's (at least he hoped it was his) in his hand. "'Eh, I can show you there if you need to know how to get there." Having been forced to get to Viridian before, Christopher at least knew his way around it. Somewhat.
That's what a little sister with a pidgey did to you. They were always needing food. Same with the family growlithe.

Mel nodded solemnly. "Thank you, Nurse Joy," she said, looking at the two pokeballs.
The one with the water drop on the top was Lapis', and soon enough her squirtle was released, and blinking in the flourescent lighting of the pokemon center. As she moved to put Agok back on her belt clip, Mel jumped, hearing Christopher addressing her. She looked up, wincing as she heard the pokeball drop to the floor. She quickly bent to retrieve the red and white sphere and nearly cracked heads with Lapis. Shutting her eyes Mel straightened up, deciding that recovering dignity was more important that putting the pokeball where it belonged.
"Why, thanks, that'd be nice. This place is pretty big. Do you live here?"

Heading towards the door, Christopher finally released Mystery. Or he thought it had been until the red light formed into one of his more new pokemon. He sighed, but didn't bother switching out. He supposed it was only fair that his other pokemon got the chance to walk around-he was not, not, going to let them all out in the middle of a city. Not when there were those arguements, and he had enough trouble keeping Verify from pounding his head off with a wing-and because he didn't want to look like a complete full. So the purple rodent next to him immedietly chittered hopefully and dashed foward, waiting when he got a couple of feet ahead for his trainer to catch up. Bruise really was an overtly happy pokemon, even if he seemed wary of Lapis.
"Not that big compared to some of the cities-Nope. I don't live here, just came here whenever I needed to get something from the 'mart for my sister and the family growlithe."

"Oh," Mel felt a little foolish when he said that Viridian wasn't really all that big. Well, it felt big to her, darnit! "Well, I've never left Pallet Town before," she cast around to change the topic off her inexperience. "So, was that rattata your starter? I don't remember seing you near the lab before."

"I've never been further than Viridian. My Mother told us some stories though-she used to travel alot." Used to. Told. She was far past the ability to do either of those any more, and Christopher felt a twinge of guilt at having left. But she had wanted him to, so he had. Because he desperatly wanted to see what she had spun tales about.
"Hm? Bruise? No, he's not my starter. I started with a Bulbasaur-My guess is I did before you. I just spent an unholy amount of time on the first route. Part of it was because of Mystery, my Bulbasaur, and part of it was because of Verify, my Pidgey. I think they conspired to try and get me to get lost there and never return."

"You have three pokemon already?" Mel asked, feeling worried. She only had Lapis and Agok, and her pokeball throwing was far from perfect.
She put her hands in her jacket pockets nervously as she walked. So far Viridian was big, but not actually as big as she thought. She had caught one pokemon, mainly by accident, and now it looked as if most trainers had at least two plus their starters by the time they reached Viridian. She felt extremely second rate.
