The pokeball bounced off the Fearow's chest, richotched (I so misspelt that...) off of a nearby Spearow, bounced back to Mel's head, and finally shot out a rather pathetic looking stream of red light that engulfed the Fearow, before falling to the ground and shaking rapidly.
Leaving Lapis to fall. Maybe even be caught. Maybe. Although the Fearow had gotten a bit further away between the throwing of the pokeball, and the actualy 'catpure' of the pokemon.
Ah yes. Capture. That term was inapporpiate, as after a few rapid shakes, the pokeball burst open, rolled backwards a few feet, and revealed a ruffled Fearow, both feet planted firmly on the ground. Curiously he didn't attack again, although he didn't call off any Spearow. Though only a few were still there, most of them having retreated when turned into flying fireballs. Except the one or two that were laying on the ground, quite out for the count.
"Cruuuckooo!" This cry elaboratedly translated to, for the pokemon that could actually understand it, "I'll remember you. Good battle, yes. I see you 'gain one day, battle then. Be stronger!" With said command, the Fearow beat his wings rapidly, and took to the air wheeling about and retreating.
Maybe you had gained his respect?
In any case, it was relativly safe to be up and off the dirt now, so Micheal did so, brushing his front off and gasping in great gusts of air. "Oh dear...I need to exercise..."

Mel skidded on her knees as she lunged forward to catch the heavy squirtle who fell from the sky. Lapis looked dazed, as Mel just hugged him tightly. She felt exhausted as the adrenaline left her system, leaving room for the admonishing voice that told her how stupid she had been.
"Squirt squir squir (Yeah, next time I'll see you too, buddy)," Lapis glared at the fearow's reteating form.
He wriggled one paw free from Mel's grip and petted her roughly on the shoulder. "Squirt, squirtle, yle, (There there, I'm all right,)" he told her awkwardly.
Mel finally did let him go, and began fishing around in the grass for the two pokeballs that she had used in her attempts to disuade the fearow. She breathed out Shakily, recovering te two of them, and standing up, looking around at Blake and Mr. Michael.
"Are you all right, sir?"

Micheal resumed a proper standing posture, having been resting with his hands on his knees. "Fine now...Nice Squirtle you got there. Gotta be the first time I've ever seen one fly." Wiping his forehead free of sweat, he gestured dramatically, "Ladies first." He couldn't wait to get off this route. Who knew when that crazed bird would be back?

Mel nodded, and began to walk down the path, "Thank you, Mr. Michael. When we get to Virdian city, could you tell me where the pokemon Center is? Both Lapis and Agok need it, and your new spearow will, too."
((Sorry for short post. Skipping over to Viridian City, unless there's someone else who wants to jump out at everyone. Blake can, um, Blake along, or something.))

((-randomly posts one last time-))
"Ah yes...My Spearow." How wierd. He actually had a pokemon. At the age of twenty-five, well into his...chubby years, he had a fierce pokemon. "I do have one, don't I?" For a moment, it looked like the man might break down and cry, but of course he didn't. Micheal just didn't do that.
"Sure. There-" He pointed a finger at the regular pokemon center, the 'Viridian Pokemon Center' sign following the same direction as his finger, "It is."
